Trademark Policies
The Georgia Technology Student Association (GATSA) enforces comprehensive trademark policies protecting the TSA name and emblem. The official emblem, adopted in 1989 and registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (Certificate No. 1,551,468), consists of "three parts: middle section with white TSA letters on blue background, red rectangular sections top and bottom."
Authorized Users
- Members in good standing of active state delegations
- Those with written permission from TSA executive director
Permitted Applications
- Stationery, jewelry, clothing, emblematic items
- Public relations materials (newsletters, websites, parade floats)
- Educational exhibits and non-commercial displays
Prohibited Uses
- Substitute colors for corporate palette
- Alter design or name components
- Commercial purposes without licensing
- False endorsements of business firms
Official Colors & Specifications
- Navy Blue: PMS 286
- Red: PMS 1795
- Acceptable Variations: All red, blue, white, black, gold, silver, or etched versions
Font Standards: Helvetica or Arial for "Technology Student Association"
Commerce Guidelines
Local chapters may sell TSA-branded items to raise funds under these conditions: sales limited to local service areas, products represent reasonable value and quality, sales conducted by chapters only (not wholesalers), and no duplication of items sold through TSA's national supply service company.
